AERO 2010 in Friedrichshafen is behind us...

We have just returned from this year's AERO Friedrichshafen!

We are proud to announce that once again, the AERO exhibition was a great success.

Just like last year, Pipistrel invited distributors from around the world to be present at the exhibition booth - to provide custumer support in their own native language!

With the help of our global network of distributors, we were able to offer the service, information and promo material to our costumers in the following languages:
Arabian, Belgian, Dutch, French, Finnish, German, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovenian, Spanish, Thailandese and more...

Our exhibition booth was located in the hall "B4". On 400 m2 of space, Pipistrel presented 4 aircraft, including the NASA challenge winner "Virus SW 100".
The other aircraft presented were the Sinus Nose-Wheel, Taurus Electro (with a separately presented fuel-powered propulsion unit) and the single seat Apis/Bee.

The most attention was centered around our "speeding bullet", the Virus SW 100 with its amazing VNE of 302 km/h and cruise speed of 273 km/h!
Pipistrel's Virus SW 100 succesfully completed a series of tests and obtained the German Ultralight certification. We are proud to claim that the characteristics needed to obtain the certification (for example - noise at full engine power ONLY 56 dB) make the Pipistrel Virus SW 100 one of the quietest aircraft available! Virus SW 100 has also demonstrated flutter free characteristics at speeds of over 500 km/h, proving it also offers unprecedented safety!

No other aircraft in the same category comes close to such performance! All this confirms once again what the two consecutive NASA challenge awards proclaimed: Virus SW 100 is the safest aircraft and displays the best performance on the market.

Just before the AERO,2010 the Virus SW 100 also obtained the the EASA approval as an 600 kg LSA aeroplane. The Virus SW 100 can now fly as an EASA PtF LSA in Europe, taking advantage of the 600 kg MTOW.

Just like last year, our booth and the whole Pipistrel's visual image were designed by Mr Max Pinucci, our friend and cooperative from Pipistrel Italy team, and his company MB Vision.
The printing, materials and the execution of the project was done by a Slovene company, Kobi Interieri from Ljubljana.
We are very grateful to both companies for their effort, our booth looked truly amazing and it vas very functional for both the staff and the visitors.

The star of the show this year was the world's first ever two-seat self launching glider with an electric engine  - we are speaking of course about our Taurus Electro!
The introduction of this aircraft at the booth sparked a lot of interest from all sorts of media and our team was always busy giving interviews and information about the Taurus Electro...

We presented a new feature for the Taurus this year: an aerodynamic tail-wheel fairing.

The other two aircraft, the Sinus NW and the Apis-Bee were shown a lot of interest also.
Sinus has acquired a following of loyal fans who turn up at every exhibition to check if there is anything new.
We didn't leave them disappointed - this year we presented a wide range of optional equipment for the Sinus:
a new shape of the tow-hook, a glass cockpit instrument panel, a side-access door for the luggage compartment, oil-check door in the engine cover and the leather interior in literally dozens of different colours and combinations!

The Bee, (or Apis as it is alternatively called), is becoming more and more interesting for the customers.
We were surprised by the amazing feedback we received at the AERO... And due to the other glider aircraft producers boycotting the event, we also received many orders for the Bee.
The Bee - Apis is also gaining on popularity because the FAI announced a new world-class glider category for aircraft with 13,5 m wingspan.
The Bee - Apis, model WR, already claimed 10 FAI world records. A new version will be prepared for the upcoming 13,5 m class, available with a retractable auxiliary engine for self-launching which and meeting all the competition and regulative requirements. This makes the Bee an ideal aircraft for everyone who wants to fly for fun whenever they want, and at the same time qualify to compete at the world championship events.
NO other aircraft in the world can offer you all this at the same time!

On the saturday evening, all the distributors gathered as usual for the Distributor Working Dinner. They discussed their work during the past year.

The Pipistrel General Manager Mr. Ivo Boscarol, the Product Manager Mr. Tadej Hožič, the Storage and Logistics manager Mr. Iztok Kobol and Pipistrel's test pilot and researcher Mr. Tine Tomažič all thanked the distributors for their hard work and contribution to Pipistrel's success - making the year 2009 the most successful year in Pipistrel's history!
The speakers also gave a detailed report about the work in 2009 and introduced Pipistrel's plans for the future.
