Gregor Veble je prejel nagrado Primorski Um / Gregor Veble receives the Mind of Primorska region award

Na 12. prireditvi Gospodarstvenik Primorske, ki sta se je kot častna gosta udeležila predsednik vlade RS Borut Pahor in minister za evropske zadeve in razvoj Mitja Gaspari, so v Novi Gorici v sredo, 11. 3. 2009, podelili tudi dve priznanji Primorski um za dosežke pri prenosu znanja iz akademske sfere v industrijo.
Tokrat sta ugledno regionalno nagrado za znanstveno aplikativne dosežke prejela dr. Elena Varljen Bužan, docentka in raziskovalka Univerze na Primorskem in dr. Gregor Veble, docent in raziskovalec na Univerzi v Novi Gorici.
Nagrado Gospodarstvenik Primorske za leto 2008 je Rudi Tomšič, direktor podjetja Javor stroji iz Pivke.
Strokovna komisija in organizatorji dogodka, medijski hiši Radio Koper in Primorske novice, so tokrat podelili še nagrado za življenjsko delo, prejel jo je Vojko čŒok, donedavni predsednik uprave Banke Koper in nagrado za poseben dosežek v letu 2008, ki je šla v roke Iztoku Bizjaku iz podjetja Gonzaga Pro.

Doc. dr. Gregor Veble je raziskovalec in vodja raziskav v podjetju Pipistrel ter profesor na Fakulteti za aplikativno naravoslovje Univerze v Novi Gorici. V zadnjem času se ukvarja predvsem z računskimi postopki v aerodinamiki in prenosom teoretičnega znanja v praktične namene. Tako je v podjetju Pipistrel vpeljal metodo računske dinamike fluidov, ki se tam že uporablja za načrtovanje novih letal in komponent. Obenem se ukvarja z novimi metodami za avtomatično aerodinamično optimizacijo. Razvil je metodo za avtomatično oblikovanje krilnih profilov, ki zelo dobro ustrezajo danim zahtevam. Za potrebe podjetja Pipistrel je sestavil tudi program za optimizacijo propelerjev pri dan moči motorja in pri želenih hitrostih. V podjetju Pipistrel skrbi za izobraževanje kadra, saj pod njegovim somentorstvom trenutno poteka izvajanje dveh doktorskih ter ene diplomske naloge.

Gregor Veble received an award "The Mind of Primorska region"


On Wednesday, 11 March 2009,
an event called "Gospodarstvenik Primorske", ("the enterpreneur of Primorska region") was held in in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. Two guests of honour participated at the event;
President of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and Minister of European Affairs and Development, Mitja Gaspari.
Among other awards, two titles of "Primorski um" ("the Mind of Primorska region") were awarded for achievement in transfering the knowledge from academic sphere into economy.
 
This prestigious award for applicative science went to dr. Elena Varljen Bužan, docent and researcher at University of Primorska, and our employee, dr. Gregor Veble, docent and researcher at University of Nova Gorica.

The main award, Enterpreneur of Primorska 2008, was awarded to Rudi Tomšič, general manager of the company "Javor stroji" from Pivka. 
Another award - for lifetime achievment - was awarded by the professional committee and the organisers of the event, Radio Koper and the newspaper house Primorske novice, to Vojko čŒok, the ex-president of the Management Board of Bank Koper.
The award for special achievement in the year 2008 went to Iztok Bizjak from the Gonzaga Pro company.

Doc. dr. Gregor Veble is a researcher and the head of research at Pipistrel d.o.o. Ajdovščina, and a lecturer at the Faculty of applied sciences at the University of Nova Gorica. Recently he has mostly been active in the field of computational approaches towards aerodynamics and the application of theoretical knowledge towards practical purposes. At Pipistrel, he introduced the methods of computational fluid dynamics that are now being used to design new aircraft and components. He is also applying novel methods for aerodynamic optimisation. He developed a method for automatic design of wing sections that well fit the desired requirements. He also developed a program for the optimisation of propellers for given powers and speeds. At Pipistrel he is also responsible for education. There are currently two doctoral and one diploma thesis being produced at Pipistrel under his mentorship.
