Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2010!
Don't be surprised when you don't receive a Pipistrel Christmas card this year... read inside to find out why! :)
Just like last year, Pipistrel continues the ECOlution spirit even in these festive days - instead of sending out hundreds of Christmas cards all over the globe, we decided to donate all those resources to charity!

Last year we planted 10 trees to reduce our carbon footprint and make the surroundings of our green facility even greener!

This year we will go a step further into making our little green planet a nice and hospitable home for everyone to live in.
Last year, our actions were directed into the preservation of the environment - this year, we are going to help the ones who struggle to live in this environment.

They say children are our future. But sometimes, the future is dark and cloudy, as is in the case of handicapped youth in Stara Gora, whose only hope for better life is the old, makeshift rehabilitation center.

So we in Pipistrel decided to support the fundation Vrabček Upanja, http://www.vrabcekupanja.si

The fundation works on a voluntary basis. All the resources collected through donations are used to purchase medical equipment and provisions for the handicapped youth ward at the rehabilitation center in Stara Gora. Their biggest wish is to collect enough money to fund a new, modern rehabilitation center to substitute the old, overcrowded makeshift pavilions.

Every year there are thousands of abandoned animals in Slovenia. Many of the homeless animals never enjoy the warmth of a home - they are born on the streets, live on the streets, and sadly, die on the streets.
Approximately 90 % of homeless cats don't survive their first year. Between the remaining 10% every year the epidemics of cat AIDS (FIV) and FELV (Feline Leukemia disease) cause hundreds of animals to die in pain.

The only legal way to prevent overpopulation of wild and abandoned animals are   neutering/spaying programs and attempts to socialise the younger animals to find them the new homes.

These programs are mostly left to be carried out by volunteers. Taking care for the animals (who are often in a bad condition and require costly veterinary care), the price of serilization/castration surgeries, food, medication and equipment uses a lot of resources.
That's why we decided to dedicate the other half of this year's donation to  our local society for prevention of cruelty to animals - Društvo Prijateljev živali Severne Primorske.
