BRP-POWERTRAIN EXTENDS TIME BETWEEN OVERHAULS ON ITS 912 SERIES AIRCRAFT ENGINES

Gunskirchen, Austria, December 16, 2009 -
BRP-Powertrain received certification to extend the period of operation of its Rotax® 912 series piston aviation aircraft engines from 1,500 to 2,000 hours of Time Between Overhauls (TBO).

Carried out in agreement with the Certificate Authority European Aviation Safety Agency
(EASA), the program for the extension of the period of operation achieved positive results.
Therefore, the TBO for 912 series engines is now increased from 1,500 to 2,000 hours
TBO. The TBO increase is also in effect for 912 series engines in the field, subject to the performance of applicable service bulletins.
In the past 20 years, more than 30,000 units of Rotax 912 series aircraft engines have been produced.
"The increase of TBO has been achieved by the continuous improvement in the
development of our products", said Michael Wagner, Director Aircraft Engines, BRP Powertrain. "It is another proof of the quality and reliability of Rotax aircraft engines. This
milestone was made possible by the remarkable cooperation between BRP-Powertrain, the authorities and worldwide BRP’s network of authorized distributors for Rotax aircraft engines. It demonstrates our distributors’ commitment to customers and the Rotax brand", concluded Wagner.

BRP-Powertrain is also working on extending the period of operation for the 914 series
engines so that all programs are carried out in accordance with the Part 21 homologation to increase TBO on this series as well.
