The inauguration of Sinus motorglider in India

We are pleased to announce that the third aircraft joined Pipistrel's fleet flying over the Indian skies - a Sinus 912 was shipped to Flight Lab. of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur where it was received with a special inauguration and good-luck ritual.
 
The inaugration of our both SINUS 912 motor gliders was performed on 4th
January, 2009 by Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering. The
inaugration was attended by large number of students, staff and faculty
members. There was dense fog on that day, so unfortunately a test flight could not be performed becuase of the low visibility.

During the inauguration, the Puja was performed - an indian ritual of "remembering god". It was done by Prof. S. Kamle, Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering.


Prof. S. Kamle together with a priest performed Indian rituals on Sinus 912 to bring it good luck.

 
Prof. S. Kamle, Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering broke a coconut in front of Sinus 912 (reg. VT-GDG).
This is an Indian ritual, performed at the beginning of any important enterprise or event, in order to bring good luck.

After the Puja, Prof. S. Kamle, Head, Department of Aerospace Engineering performed the inauguration by cutting the ribbon on Sinus 912, VT-GDG, at Flight Lab. IIT Kanpur
