The president of European Parliament visited Pipistrel

On February 18., the president of European Parliament, Josep Borrell, arrived on a two-day visit to Slovenia. Before the beginning of the oficial part of the visit, he stopped by Pipistrel and tried out our planes.

The president of European Parliament, Josep Borrell, arrived on a two-day visit to Slovenia, hosted by the President of the National Assembly, Mr. France Cukjati.
Before the beginning of the official part of the meeting, Mr. Borrell had a lunch with the European Parliament member, Mr. Lojze Peterle at the Zemono manor . As both the visitor and the host are pilots, Mr. Borrell even being an aircraft engineer by profession, they visited Pipistrel factory after lunch.

Mr. Peterle regularly flies with Pipistrel planes, so it was his task to lead the visit around the factory. Mr. Peterle took Mr. Borrell for a short flight around the Vipava Valley. Mr. Borrell tested the aeroplane himself and he was delighted and pleasantly surprised with the quality and manoeuvrability of the plane.

"Maybe I could even buy one, why not", he commented. He praised the organisation and successful economic operation of the Pipistrel company and emphasised the importance of smaller high-tech companies for the future of European Union, for example Pipistrel, which exports more then 50% of the production to the most pretentious non-European markets.

Mr. Borrell was also shown the newest member of Pipistrel 3-axis aeroplane family, Taurus, the world’s first side by-side ultralight powered glider. He was astounded and impressed by the fine surface, acomplished design, inovative technologies and the faultless finish of Taurus.
