Pipistrel's double special occasion

On 15. May 2009 we celebrated a double jubilee in Pipistrel.
The two important occasions were: we completed the 300th aircraft from the Sinus-Virus family; it will be shipped to Mr Bill Hunt from United States of America.
At the same time, the 50th aircraft from the Taurus family left our production facility. It will find a new home in Brazil.

The Pipistrel team is proud to announce that even in these difficult times, when many companies struggle to survive, we can boast with a successful economic operation - in the first quarter of 2009, we achieved a 35% increase of our production compared with the same time period in 2008.

We achieved this feat by correctly anticipating the global economic trends, by focusing on the markets of countries less affected by the crisis (Arabian countries, South America, far East..) and with the correct approach to the marketing.
We have realistic hopes to double the production increase numbers till the end of 2009, for we received more orders than expected.

We continue with the trend of intense investments into research, high-technology equipment and development. In 2008, we invested 1,2 mio EUR into research & development, which represents one quarter of the entire yearly turnover. We expect to do the same again in 2009.
In Pipistrel, we assign the greatest importance to the quality of our team - therefore we continue the trend of employing highly educated experts in our new Research institute for applied science - especially cadre with bachelor, master and doctorate degrees.
Inside the new Institute, the development of a new four-seater is already underway. Again this new aircraft concept will trigger an unexpected and large-scale revolution in the field of aviation.
At the moment, Pipistrel produces 6-7 aeroplanes per month. In the 22 years of its existence, Pipistrel has produced close to 1000 aircraft. Besides the Sinus, Virus, Virus SW and Taurus aeroplanes, we have just began with the serial production of a self-launching glider, the single-seat Apis/Bee.
With the help of a distributor net in 35 countries and our own sales network, we sell to all continents. Our aeroplanes already fly in 50 world countries.

All Pipistrel aircraft represent the main philosophy of the company:
-the maximum possible energy efficiency;
-the minimum possible air resistance, achieved with the clean aerodynamic shape;
-the biggest possible lift.
The result of this policy are aeroplanes which have 40-70% lower fuel consumption than other comparable aircraft, and therefore put a lot less stress on our environment.
We are especially proud of our Taurus Electro, which made her maiden flight in 2007 and is to time still the only two-seat electric plane in the world.
Pipistrel has proven by example that it is possible to be successful in business without polluting the environment. The facility in which we work is 100% energetically-self sufficient and entirely powered from renewable sources of energy. The energy for operation is acquired by the means of one of the largest solar power plants on the entire Balkan peninsula (110 kW), geo-thermal heat exchangers, geo-thermal accumulation field, heat pump and bio-gas co-generation power plant.

In 2008, we claimed two prestigious titles:
- our aeroplane Virus SW won the NASA's GAT Challenge 2008;
- the influential American magazine Popular Science declared Taurus Electro as one of 10 most important innovations in 2008, in the "aviation and space" category.
We have already started actively preparing for the next NASA challenge in summer 2011.
At Pipistrel, we commit ourselves to continue promoting Slovenia through state-of-the-art technology based on ecology.

Dvojni jubilej za Pipistrel

15.5.2009 sta se za 60-članski kolektiv Pipistrela zgodila kar dva pomembna jubileja. 
Dokončano je bilo tristoto (300.) letalo iz družine Sinus, ki je namenjeno v ZDA za g. Bill-a Hunt-a, istočasno pa je iz proizvodnje prišlo tudi petdeseto (50.) letalo iz družine Taurus, ki bo nov dom našlo v Braziliji.

Kolektiv Pipistrela v teh, za gospodarsko težkih časih, ko se mnoga podjetja ukvarjajo z iskanjem možnosti preživetja, z veseljem sporoča, da poslujemo zelo uspešno saj smo v prvem četrtletju letošnjega leta dosegli kar 35% povečanje prodaje glede na enako obdobje lani.
To nam je uspelo s pravilnim predvidevanjem trendov, odpiranjem novih na krize manj občutljivih trgov (arabske države, južna Amerika, daljni vzhod itd..) ter pravilnim nastopom na trgu. Do konca leta realno predvidevamo to številko celo podvojiti saj smo uspeli pridobiti več naročil kot smo predvidevali.
Nadaljujemo pa tudi trend intenzivnega investiranja v raziskave, tehnološko opremo in razvoj. V letu 2008 smo za razvoj namenili 1,2 mio EUR kar prestavlja četrtino lanskega celotnega prometa podjetja, enako pa predvidevamo tudi v letošnjem letu.
V podjetju glavni pomen pripisujemo zaposlenim zato nadaljujemo z zaposlovanjem visoko-izobraženega kadra v novem razvojnem inštitutu za letalstvo in aplikativne vede, posebej kadrov z univerzitetnimi, magistrskimi ter doktorskimi nazivi. Prav pod okriljem Pipistrelovega novega inštituta je v letošnjem letu stekel razvoj novega, štirisedežnega letala, ki bo ponovno predstavljajo nepričakovano in veliko revolucijo na področju letalstva.
Podjetje Pipistrel trenutno proizvede 6-7 letal mesečno. V 22-letni zgodovini smo v Pipistrelu naredili že blizu tisoč letalnih naprav. Poleg letal Sinus, Virus, Virus SW ter Taurus, smo pred kratkim pričeli s serijsko proizvodnjo enosedežnega jadralnega letala s pomožnim motorjem - Apis/Bee.
Poleg zastopstev v 35 državah podjetje prodaja na vse kontinente sveta, naša letala pa letijo že v 50- ih državah.

Vsa Pipistrelova letala združujejo osnovno filozofijo podjetja: največja možna energijska učinkovitost, čistost aerodinamičnih linij, ter minimiziran upor in največji možni vzgon. Rezultat so letala, ki imajo glede na konkurenco od 40-70% manjšo porabo goriva, in zato veliko manj obremenjujejo okolje.
Posebej ponosni smo na letalo Taurus Electro, ki je prvič poletelo leta 2007, še vedno pa je edino dvosedežno električno letalo na svetu

Pipistrel je dokazal tudi, da je možno biti uspešen brez obremenjevanja okolja. Objekti, kjer domuje Pipistrel, so namreč 100% energijsko neodvisni in energijo pridobivajo iz obnovljivih virov.
Energijo za obratovanje pridobivajo s 110 kW sončno elektrarno, vertikalnim in horizontalnim geotermalnim poljem, ter bio-plinsko kogeneracijo.
V podjetju obljubljamo, da bomo še naprej dostojni ambasadorji slovenske tehnologije v tujini. Leta 2008 smo osvojili dva zavidljiva naslova: zmago na NASA-inem GAT Challenge 2008 z letalom Virus SW 100 ter nagrado revije Popular Science za eno izmed 10 najboljših inovacij na svetu v letu 2009 s področja letalstva in vesoljske tehnike za letalo Taurus Electro. Aktivno se že pripravljamo na naslednje NASA-ino tekmovanje, ki bo poleti leta 2011.
